Resurrection Sunday

Jesus is ALIVE!!  Amen and Amen!

This year is a year of firsts for our son, and it started out with his 1st Easter.  It was so special to celebrate our risen LORD with Josiah.  We went to our church, Harvest Bible Chapel, on Saturday night with my family for the Easter service.  And wow was it good!  We sang some of my favorite songs of praise to our King and of course the Harvest tradition of cheering and clapping and holding up signs (ex. "Jesus is Alive") after Pastor James says "Christ is Risen!"  BUT this year they added a special touch... they had confetti shot out from these "blowers" into the crowd!  It was so cool!  What a celebration!

On Easter Sunday we woke up and had a relaxing morning at home before we headed out to Hampshire.  We then got to my parents in the afternoon and spent the day with my family, Mom and Dad Haskell and the Carril's, (aka Sean's cute girlfriend and her family!).  Josiah had 3 Easter baskets and 2 gifts to open, wow is he spoiled!  We had an amazing ham dinner with delicious salads and bread and apple pie for dessert.  It was a memorable Resurrection Sunday!

4 weeks old today!

Josiah is 4 weeks old today!  No, not officially one month (April 17th), but 4 weeks none the less.  Wow has time flown by.  My little prince has already grown so much- weighing in at 9lb 14oz and 23 1/4 in long!  His looks are changing day by day, and he is starting to be more awake now, which means: play time!!  It is SO incredible to see his eyes wide open and watch him stare at things- especially into mommy's eyes! =)  He has so much to explore, learn and look at- you can only imagine what he is all thinking!  Like when he dreams and makes all those funny faces and noises... what could he possibly be dreaming about?!

In just the 4 short weeks of Josiah's life so far, I have learned a lot about him and his little personality already.  Here is a list of 10 things I LOVE about Josiah:

1.  He is such a good baby!  Now of course I'm a new mommy and don't have anything to compare him to, but you ask anyone that is close to us and they will agree he is! ; )
2.  He is laid back!  In other words... relaxed, easy going, chill, go with the flow...you get the picture!  This I guess is what helps make him a GOOD baby!
3.  His cry!  Yes, I mean it when I say I love his cry.  It's sweet music to my ears!
4.  His smile!  Whether its because he's dreaming, pooping or just happy... that smile melts my heart!
5.  As he wakes up and stretches and makes the cutest noises!
6.  How he snorts like a pig when he's worked up!  I have no idea where that came from!
7.  As I said earlier... how he stares into my eyes!
8.  His cute little button nose and beautiful blue eyes!
9.  How he yawns so big it startles him and makes him cry!  : (
10.  He looks like ME!!  This may change, and I would love for him to look like his handsome daddy, but for now I'm lovin the fact that he looks like his mommy!

I know it sounds cliche when I say I could stare at him all day long, but it's true and guess what?  I DO!!  I have the privilege to be at home with Josiah every day so I can care for him and learn all these wonderful things I love so much about him.  I'm so thankful for a hard working husband who goes to work everyday to provide for our family so I can be home with our son.  I count it an absolute blessing!  I just LOVE being Josiah's mommy.  There is no greater joy!  It is such an honor and I thank God for entrusting him to us.

I can honestly say I LOVE everything about motherhood.  Even those sleepless nights, dirty diapers, getting spit up on, peed on, pooped on, ect., feeding every 3 hours, not being able to get a shower in, it taking 3 times as long to get out the door and so on.  BUT its all worth it when: YOU get to hold your baby at 3am to soothe him when he cry's, YOU see his smile after he has a full tummy because YOU fed him, YOU get to watch him sleep and pray over his life, YOU take him shopping and everyone tells YOU how cute he is, YOU get to give him a bath and see how much he loves it, YOU get to read him a bedtime story and tuck him in at night, and YOU are the one he'll love the rest of his life for doing all those things!  The love of your child is indescribable, it's such a fierce love.  It's the BEST!  And I LOVE it!  Can you tell?!  = )

Lovin Life,

Happy Birthday to the one I LOVE!

This post is for the love of my life, man of my dreams, best friend, partner in crime, soul mate, and my baby's daddy- my husband:  Happy 28th Birthday Daniel!  May it be the BEST birthday yet!

Birthday memories...
-2005- 22 years old! I was in St. Louis on spring break and you were in Arizona with Galen.  This was before we officially started dating.  I called you to wish you a happy day and you were enjoying it on the golf course... one of your favorite places to be!
-2006 23 years old! We had been dating 9 months.  You came over to pick me up for your birthday date and I can remember exactly what you were wearing, one of your blue striped dress shirts.  You looked so HOT! = )  I took you to the Mill Race Inn in downtown Geneva for dinner, it was delicious!
-2007 24 years old!  The year we were married!  You came over to my parents house for dinner, cake and gifts.  I made you your favorite- Angel food cake!  I also got you a journal and a homemade count down the days until our wedding journal.  I couldn't wait to marry you!
-2008 25 years old!  It was a double celebration-you and Brandon.  We celebrated with your parents and my family at Claim Jumper, one of our favorite restaurants.
-2009 26 years old!  This year it was just the 2 of us and we went to Coopers Hawk, our FAVORITE restaurant!  I think we have now celebrated there your birthday, my birthday, our anniversary, your promotion, valentines day and the list goes on!  HaHa
-2010 27 years old!  Last year we tagged teamed it again and celebrated yours and Brandon's b-day together at Garibaldi's the night before we left for Orlando, FL.  Your parents also met us there to help celebrate.

-2011 28 years old!  Best birthday yet because we have our son, Josiah!  Although you are working today, Josiah and I can't wait to celebrate with you when you get home!

And we have many more memories to make!!  I hope you have a great day and I pray your year is blessed!  I love you so much, more than words can express.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETNESS!!!
         You're the BEST!
All our love,

It's a BOY!!

Josiah Daniel Haskell made his way into the world on March 17th, 2011 at 4:45pm weighing in at 8lb 11oz and 21 in long.  I can't believe that he is already 1 week old today!  We are so over joyed to be Josiah's parents and fall more in love with this child God has entrusted to us every day.  If you were at all wondering why we chose the name Josiah for our first born son, we will tell you!  Josiah means the Lord saves, which we are so thankful for that truth in our life!  Jesus died on the cross to save us all from our sin, we just have to choose him and accept the free gift of salvation.  You can read about Josiah in the book of 2 Kings 22-23.  He became king of Judah at the age of 8 and reigned for 31 years.  Josiah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and in chapter 23:25 it says "Before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses, nor did any like him arise after him."  We pray our son, Josiah Daniel, will one day know our King, Jesus Christ, personally and follow hard after him all the days of his life.  We have dedicated the verse Zephaniah 3:17 as his birthday verse for him:  "The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exalt over you with loud signing." AMEN!

With one week of parenting under our belt, I must say we are adjusting quite well, praise the LORD!  Josiah has helped make the transition for us quite easy as he is such a great baby!  We already have a bedtime routine and have him on an every 3 hour feeding schedule.  We have had some quality family time with Dan being home all this week, which I am very thankful for.  Also, our families and close friends have been a HUGE blessing by visiting us frequently and helping care for Josiah and making dinners.  Thank you so much!

Please enjoy the pictures... which I'm sure you all have been patiently waiting for!  This is Josiah at 1 day old!

With Love, The Haskell Three

Week 39 Update & Meal Registry Calendar

Post Created by Dan
Well we went to see the doctor tonight for our 39th week checkup, and no new news to report...still 3cm dilated and baby has dropped a little. The doc thinks by this weekend we could have a baby! We are praying so, and would covet your prayers as well. Otherwise we will go in on Tuesday for further testing - ultrasound to check fluid level and stress test on the baby etc. and DO NOT want to go through that! There is a possibility of being induced next Friday, March 25th. Please pray baby comes naturally!
Also, here is the Public Link for our MealBaby Registry as some have inquired into coming to see us and the baby at home:

BABY Showered with L.O.V.E

These past couple weeks Dan & I have felt completely overwhelmed by God's LOVE for us!  It all started the day of my first baby shower given for us by my mother-in-law.  She held it on February 5th at the Stockholm Inn in Rockford, which is our FAVORITE place to eat breakfast...this very pregnant mom-to-be couldn't wait to eat and enjoy some Swedish pancakes!  It was a very FUN day and great to see friends and family we don't get to see that often.  Thanks Mom H for a beautiful shower!

On February 20th we were showered with LOVE again at the baby shower my mom threw for us at the Comfort Suites in Elgin.  I not only felt absolutely beautiful (Thanks Sarah for doing my hair!), but I had the best time seeing all (well almost all, we were missing a few) my close friends and family in one room to help celebrate with us the coming birth of our first child!  I'll never forget it!  Here are a few pictures that captured the gorgeous shower it was:

We are all set and ready to go, now we just need baby to arrive!  At 37 weeks pregnant this week and considered "full term" he/she could come at any time!  Yes, I'm hoping to go early! ; )  It could happen people!  Looking forward to that day and trusting in God's perfect timing!

Feeling very blessed,
    Kate
